About Young JV
“My songs of peace and love are also inspired by stories of people who work hard and succeed even if they have nothing to start with. Really, nothing is impossible if you put your heart into it. So I say, don't lose hope, just keep on goin'. To the youth of today: let us all work for peace, love and unity in our country and the world.”

How did you get started in art?
As a child, I entertained guests in family gatherings by singing and dancing for them. Then, at 8 years old, I got into sports like my favorite ice hockey, competing in Hong Kong with the SM Team. In my early teens, I became "Shimmer", an And-1 endorser for street basketball. I also joined my high school basketball team as a varsitarian.

It was not until I was 16 when I found the knack for hiphop and rap music-at a party of friends and high school classmates, I was swayed to do an impromptu rap beat and that started it all.

Who motivated you in the art direction?
I looked up to Ryan and Adlai aka "Blaze" when I was a kid. Today, there are my rap buddies Kane, Jumbo and Jun of our Hiphop Tuesday Troupe who keep me on the rap track.

What artist's work does your work resemble?
There's a little bit of Bow Wow in my music.

Who are your favorite artists?
Rap artists Lil' Wayne and Bow Wow.

Does your family & friends support you in your art? If so who are they?
Everyone in my family is really into my thing-especially my Mom and, of course, my Dad, my brother Charles, my sisters, Maimai and Cel, and my uncle Ver and cousin Paolo in New York.

Does your family have a long line of artist/s in it?
My grandma, Rose, is a concert pianist; a grandaunt is an opera singer; uncle Ver and cousin Paolo are musicians, too. And, yes, my parents and siblings can carry a tune quite well.

Did you go to school or are you self-taught?
I am a self-taught rapper.
